ConneXu facilitates whole of life support for adults with an intellectual and physical disabilities in a range of different circumstances and in a variety of ways. Some people live in their own homes and receive specific support to assist with their needs or to help them pursue their interests. The focus of service development is on facilitating a range of options to best suit the aspirations of people who require some assistance to live their lives.

Job Description

Our Role | Ko tā mātou mahi  

This is a role for Support Workers - however at ConneXu our Support Workers have the title of Community Facilitator.

We are recruiting a team of Permanent Relievers here at ConneXu. The Permanent Reliever role is essentially the role of a Community Facilitator, however, our vision is that the Permanent Relievers are a team within our organisation that work across a range of homes of disabled people and their core teams covering planned leave throughout the year. This is a full-time permanent role that offers a competitive package for highly skilled support workers who can adapt to each unique disabled person and use experience to provide value to the person's life. Regarding roster patterns, we are offering both fixed and flexible, each with their own remuneration package.

The Partnerships and Enablement Team at ConneXu are the heart and soul of our values-based organization. The Community Facilitators who work within the Partnerships and Enablement team alongside our disabled partners are the cornerstone of our organisation and are on the front lines developing, planning and achieving groundbreaking goals with the people we partner with.

Our Community Facilitators bring passion, heart, pride and mana to their work alongside our disabled partners and are committed to enabling good lives. This is a role for those who have a good sense of humour, big smiles and even bigger hearts. This role requires working alongside many of our disabled partners, a great Permanent Reliever is innovative in providing support to our disabled partners to provide a positive influence in their lives. The ability to build genuine relationships and forge a bright future with our disabled partners “good life” in mind will be key to your success in this role. Must have

  • A minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience working in the disability sector.
  • Proven experience with physical disabilities and complex behaviour.
  • A full, clean, New Zealand drivers license.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • A level 3 or 4 Health and Wellbeing (or equivalent) qualification.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new situations.
  • Clinical knowledge of physical disability.

Our Recruitment Process

  • If your application is of interest, we will be in contact via phone for an initial conversation.
  • You may be then asked to come in for a face-to-face interview with the hiring manager and the People and Culture Advisor.  You are welcome to bring a support person of course.
  • Our Disabled Partners will be included in the recruitment process and selection. This may mean they are part of the interview, or, an observation with those you may potentially partner with may be arranged.
  • Police vetting and Waka Kotahi drivers checks are mandatory for those who apply to work with ConneXu
  • Once these steps are completed with the preferred candidates, we will contact the final shortlist with an outcome of their application.
